SERVICE IN THE NAME OF CHRIST
Prayer Bead Ministry
Prayer beads and accompanying specific devotionals for patience, gratitude, military service, illness, and grief are now available in the church office if you are interested in a set for yourself or as a gift.
Malawi is a land locked country near Mozambique and home to 16 million people. Much like other African countries, they contend with a broken health care system plagued by a lack of training and supplies. Resources are so scare, most “professionals” wrap medication in paper or leaves for the patient to take home. You can help by donating empty prescription bottles. Simply cross out personal information (or remove the label entirely) and place in the collection box in the entry. Your compassion will span halfway around the world and improve the health of many !!
Yarn for Veterans Group
The Veterans Group at Auburn Correctional participates in an ongoing mission making baby blankets, booties, bibs, hats and scarves for infants up to high school aged children. These items are distributed to food pantries, hospitals, churches and shelters throughout the area particularly around Fort Drum. The group would appreciate your support by donating yarn. The group can ONLY accept acrylic yarn which may be ordered through Herrschners at (715) 341-8686 or herrschners.com. Please note: The group cannot accept money or black, blue, gray, orange or multicolored yarn. Post to:

We support the local food pantry with Soup-er Bowl Sunday, providing helpers for the holiday sorting, packing, and distributing at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, as well as weekly donations and monetary gifts. Volunteers can sort and pack food for our Thursday evening food distribution from 6:30-7:30pm. The pantry is located at St. Patrick’s Church on N. Main St. in Jordan. What a difference you can make in our community! For more information contact St. Patrick's at: 315-689-6240.
Red Cross Blood Drives
Blood drives are held two to three times per year in the fellowship hall from 8:00 am - noon.
Salvation Army Servers
Come join us as we serve a meal at the Salvation army in Auburn, NY.
Missions For Soldiers
JUMC works to collect or make items that our soldiers need overseas.
JUMC supports the Zimmerman Family who are missionaries to Nepal. We also support missions locally in the Syracuse and Auburn areas.
C.H.O.I.C.E. (Christian Helping Others In Cancer Encounters)
We are a support group of cancer survivors helping others, who have developed cancer of any kind. We allow the power of prayer to work through God and give people hope.
JUMC wants to be supportive of you during times of loss of a loved one. Following a funeral/memorial service, the Martha Ministry is available for you to greet family members and friends with a reception or a lunch/dinner in our Fellowship Hall.
Church World Service
In May we honor our mothers by raising money for CWS in order to supply blankets when disasters strikes. We honor our fathers in June by raising funds for CWS. They buy tools which help people around the world gain the resources and develop the skills necessary to sustain themselves and their families and build viable communities. In the Fall, we support the community CROP WALK, which helps us to support our food pantry.
"Be" The Church Day
One Sunday during May we meet after church to go into our community to help spruce things up. We especially enjoy working on the canal gardens in Jordan as we weed, spread mulch, and prepare the area to come alive with spring and summer flowers. We also have workers at the church on this day who knit or crochet washcloths and sew laundry bags for Salvation Army summer campers, and cutting out shoes for solehope.org
Camps & Retreats
Camps and Retreats Ministries. Applications are available. We also make camp bags for the Salvation Army who give them to campers each summer.
Support Our School
During the summer we collect items for our school kit ministry. These kits include many useful back to school items to help children begin the school year prepared with the supplies they need. Parishioners donate various supplies and our Outreach Team assembles the kits to be sent to UMCOR, which is our relief agency within the United Methodist Church. We also show our appreciation to our school’s teachers and administration by sending them apples in September, and muffins in May.
Church Wide Mission Fair
In November we offer our congregation an opportunity to give meaningful gifts to family and friends while financially supporting our local missions, missions of CWS and UMCOR, Imagine No Malaria, Africa University (missions of the UMC), and our local Christmas Angel Tree, in our annual Church Wide Mission Fair.
Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan's Purse)
Each fall we begin to collect items to send in our shoeboxes as we bring smiles to children in need around the world.
(call or email church office for details on any of the ministries listed above)
